Jhund! That’s The Title Of Amitabh Bachchan’s Football Film
Filmmaker Nagraj Manjule’s first Bollywood film, starring Amitabh Bachchan, has got a title and the sports drama will be called Jhund
We have been tracking this story ever since the news broke that Sairat director
Nagraj Manjule has roped in Amitabh Bachchan to star in his first Bollywood
film.
We were the first ones
to tell you that it will be a biopic of Vijay Barse and now here is the latest update.
Retired School Teacher Vijay Barse
The film has got a
title and it will be called Jhund!
Jhund will be
wrapped up in 2 schedules- one in Mumbai and one abroad. All in all, the plan
is to wrap up the film in 40 days.
Amitabh Bachchan Will Be Seen In Nagraj Manjule's Next
Amitabh Bachchan
will play Vijay Barse, the retired school teacher who is behind the initiative
Slum Soccer –which uses football to change the lives of hundreds of slum kids,
helping them to negotiate the harsh realities of a marginalised life with the
game.
Slum Soccer not
only uses football to engage with children but also supplement their education
and impart social messages like sanitation, life skills and gender equality. Today, the
initiative supports more than 10,000 boys and girls across India. Many have
gone on to find jobs in the police, railways and banks, thanks to sports quotas
in recruitment processes.
Marathi Filmmaker Nagraj Manjule
Team Nagraj had met
Barse in Pune. He has given an NOC. This implies that the film’s rights have
been bought and there is nothing unofficial about it.
Sources say that
Bachchan’s character will be somewhat similar to what Shah Rukh Khan played in
Chak De! India, which released in 2007.
Poster Of Sairat
Given that Manjule
is helming it, the film is sure to get its emotional nuances right. The
filmmaker’s last film, the Marathi blockbuster Sairat, dealt with
caste-crossed lovers: Prashant nicknamed Parshya and Archana aka Archie.
